"Amir Khusrau, an Indian Sufi singer, poet and scholar 
of 13th century wrote in `Nau Sipihr, pp. 150-91':

If someone asks me in a satirical vein why I love and prefer India, 
I would say I love it because it is my birthplace. Secondly, the 
Prophet (PBUH) said: "Love for one's motherland is an integral 
part of one's faith"

Further from Khusrau's writing:

1. All knowledge sprouted in India to reach the world at large.

2. The people of this country (India) were able to pick up the 
language of other countries while others were unable to speak Hindi.

3. People from all over the world came to Hindustan for acquiring 
knowledge but no Hindu (Indian) went abroad to do so. Abu Ma'shar came 
here to receive education and lived in Banaras for 10 years.

4. In the field of mathematics, the discovery of zero was India's 
achievement.

5. Kalela wa Dimma, which was translated into Persian, Arabic, 
Turkish and Dari, is the picture of Hindustan."
