Cohomology of arithmetic
groups, which had its genesis in the
fundamental works of Borel, Matsushima,
Murakami, Weil, and Kazhdan in the 60's
-- to which Raghunathan also made substantial
contributions -- continues to be an active
area of study via its relationship with
certain automorphic representations (which are among
the most interesting automorphic
representations to study). They are also important
for the emerging subject of `mod-p' and `p-adic
analytic' Langlands programme. The conference brings together experts to showcase the developments in this important subject. The conference is in honour of Professor M.S. Raghunathan on the occasion of his 70th birthday. |
