Abstract: Calculation of the Chow group of zero cycles on a variety is in general a difficult problem. However, for certain Châtelet surfaces on local fields, the work of Colliot-Thélène, Sansuc, Bloch and others, reduces this question to a purely number theoretic problem of understanding norm maps in wildly ramified extension of local fields. This talk aims to survey results in this direction.
