Abstract: I will survey some recent combinatorial statements and open problems coming from the classical dictionary between lattice polytopes and toric varieties,for example -the counting of lattice points in a lattice polytope $P$, -the triangulation of $P$ or $k P$, -the family of empty lattice-polytopes
