Abstract: Hodge theory of $p$-adic algebraic varieties has a very similar flavour to Hodge theory of compact Kahler varieties. The same is true for Hodge theory of compact $p$-adic analytic varieites, but not at all for non compact ones. I will review some of the results obtained in the past decade.
