Abstract: I will give a motivated account of a fundamental result in commutative algebra (and algebraic geometry), due to Emmy Noether, called Noether's Normalization Lemma, together with its proof and discuss some of its applications. This talk is aimed at graduate students with a basic knowledge of commutative algebra including integral extensions and the notion of Krull dimension.
