Generalised modular functions and their characters: Generalized modular functions are holomorphic functions on the complex upper half-plane that satisfy the usual transformation formula of a classical modular function, with the sole exception that the character need not be unitary. The theory partly is motivated from CFT in Physics. We will report on very recent joint work (2010) with G. Mason on the characters and Fourier coefficients of such functions.
