Dirichlet's theorem on primes in arithmetic progressions:  Dirichlet proved that there are infinitely many primes in an arithmetic progression of positive integers with no common factor. The proof is a mixture of analysis and algebra, and will depend on analytic properties of "Dirichlet L-Functions". We will first look at several examples and then see how to extend the proof to the general case.
