Abstract: Motivic cohomology is a cohomology theory for schemes whose existence was conjectured by Beilinson and Lichtenbaum in mid 80?s and was formaily defined by Voevodsky in mid 90?s for smooth schemes. These cohomology groups are closely related to algebraic K-theory via some Atiyah-Hirzebruch type spectral sequence. Motivic cohomology theory for singular schemes has also been developed by various authors throughout the years. In the preprint https://arxiv.org/abs/2108.02845, the authors have defined a logarithamic version of motivic cohomology theory for a semistable variety considering the log structure associated with it. In this talk we are going to discuss the importance of the theory, its constructions and main results of the preprint.
